This is an old-fashioned Soap Saver - to keep your precious organic bar soaps out of standing water, and to allow them to dry out between use.
 
If you don't allow your hand-made bar soaps to dry between use they will absorb water and eventually start to sour. 
 
Be wise and get one of these Soap Savers for each shower, tub and sink - wherever you keep a bar of soap! 
 
You can also set them inside a soap dish to be more attractive.  A soap dish can hold standing water and ruin your organic bar soaps too.
